CLG defeated Liquid 2-1 to win the North American division of the RGN Pro Series (14-16 on de_train, 16-6 on de_dust2, and 16-14 on de_overpass). The North American instalment of the RGN Pro Series concluded last night with a grand final pairing together two North American teams often casually listed as second and third best, CLG and Liquid, respectively. CLG came into the game after a disappointing showing at ESL One Cologne 2015 this past weekend, where the team took Na`Vi to the wire and nearly advanced to the quarter-finals.
With Liquid having to win two best-of-threes and also using the teamlessly woebegone Derek "desi" Branchen as a stand-in for another stand-in, Spencer "Hiko" Martin, Eric "adreN" Hoag's team still managed to take the first map of de_train off of CLG with a 16-14 scoreline. However, led by the fragging power of Tarik "tarik" Celik, and with AWPer Josh "jdm64" Marzano chiming in as well, CLG managed to take the series over the next two maps, sweeping Liquid on de_dust2 16-6 and grinding out a win on de_overpass 16-14 which nearly saw Liquid come back to take the map.
